An Impromptu Swimming Pool

Nathan and I (especially me) are getting tired of spending our days inside because of the terrible heat. So this afternoon I decided to try to find something that we could use for a little baby pool so we could get outside (or at least onto our front porch). This Sterilite container actually turned out to be the perfect size for Nathan.

The lighting outside was very good. So I took the opportunity to take some close-up pictures of our little guy.

Big Boy PJs

Nathan is moving into size 9-12 months and it is very hard to find sleepers in that size. So, for the first time, he wore real pj's tonight!

Hamming it up!

Nathan is starting to ham it up for the camera. All I was doing was trying to take pictures and these are just two of the expressions he gave me!

More supper pictures

I am finding that Nathan is giving us some of his best pictures while he is in the middle of eating. So here are three more. Tonight's menu was oatmeal and carrots. Yum!!!

And as you can imagine from viewing the above pictures, our nighttime routine consists of supper first, then bath. (I'm sure no one is going to question the sequence of events within our nighttime routine. :))

Going to Church

It's been a little while since I took Nathan to church with me. But now that he is over 6 months old, I am determined to get back into a routine of going. So, this morning at 7:30 the process began for me as I got both of us ready. Well, at about 9:15 Nathan decided that he really did not want to go and wasn't shy about sharing his feelings with us. To be honest, I came close to throwing in the towel, but decided not to since I'd already put so much time into it. (Also, I didn't want Nathan to get the idea that he could get out of going to church by throwing a tantrum.) As it turned out, Nathan was a truly perfect baby in church! And the above picture is one of him before we left.

Big Worries for a Little Boy

The other day Nathan was playing in the tv room when I decided to take some pictures. As it happened, the nightly news was on, which Nathan started watching. I ended up capturing some interesting facial expressions that I have decided to interpret.

As he was watching the news, I felt like the expression on his face said "Holy cow the economy is bad!!!"

He then made another expression as if to say "Mom, maybe you should start buying the generic diaper!"

And then he made a face that made me think that he was thinking "I sure hope no one touches that money in my piggy bank! I'm going to need that."

However, to relieve any worries that you might have that we are putting too much stress on our little guy by allowing him to watch the news with us, I did take a few more pictures. I felt that, when I took this shot, he was saying "Ha ha Mom. I'm just fooling you. I'm only 6 months old. I don't know what an economy is. I don't know who Barack Obama is. And it will be a very long time before I understand what taxes are!"

Happy Fourth of July!!

Well, Nathan started off the day in a very patriotic outfit. But, like most days, he had slobber and other stuff on it by mid-morning, so he had to get out of it. Nevertheless, happy Fourth of July!!! (And if you will notice, Nathan is sitting up all on his own in this picture!!! He still falls over from time to time, but he's doing great!)
