Nebraska Trips

It is hard to believe that almost 6 weeks of summer break have gone by! The highlights, so far, have been two trips that Nathan and I have taken up to Nebraska to help Mike, Melinda, Olivia, and Jillian as Melinda underwent chemotherapy. Here are just a few things Nathan did during the visit.

Playing in the sprinkler:

Having a cookie at Panera with his Momma.....at 9:30 in the morning:

Going bowling for the first time:

Here is another bowling video. Look at the cool pose that Nathan is striking after the ball goes down the alley:

Playing Catch

One of Nathan's favorite things to do is to play catch, especially with his Grandpa Hind. But we are all very honest with ourselves in accepting that Nathan has a lot of work to do before he can try out for the Royals.

Easter 2015

Nathan really got into the Easter and the Easter egg hunts this year! He really enjoyed dyeing the Easter eggs.

On Friday we went to the Madison Community Easter Egg Hunt held at Madison Elementary School.

And then on Sunday the Easter bunny visited our house delivering a nice Easter basket and Easter eggs for Nathan and his second cousin, Juneau, to find.

February 2015 Update

Nathan was very pleased to receive a valentine from his cousin Lydia. The only bad part about the whole thing was that, when the envelop arrived, it was torn on one end. When we opened it up, the valentine was in there, the note that Aunt Megs and Lydia wrote to Nathan was in there, a lollipop stick, and a lollipop wrapper were in there....but the actual lollipop was no where to be found.

There was about a week of time when Nathan got on this kick of playing with the big blocks we have. Here is a picture of him inside a fort he and Brian built. Notice the farm catalog that he is reading inside the fort.

Our family's New Year's Resolution was to go to the Chicken House at least once a week on a school night. The benefits of this are that we avoid the weekend crowds and Mom doesn't have to cook one night after work. Nathan LOVES it. If we tell him the morning of that we will be going that night, he talks about it all day long. An example of one of our conversations is:

Nathan: "Are we going to the Chicken House tonight?"
Mom: "Yes."
Nathan: "When do we go to the Chicken House?"
Mom: "Around seven o'clock."
Nathan: "When is seven o'clock?"
Mom: "When Daddy gets home."
Nathan: "When does Daddy get home?"
Mom: "When it gets dark."
Nathan: "When does it get dark?"
Mom: (Big sigh.) "Around seven o'clock."
Nathan: (Pause...then.) "Mommy I really want to go to the Chicken House...NOW."

And it will be a very bad day, indeed, if we ever tell him that we are planning on going and then have to reschedule.

January 2015 Update

As Nathan has grown older, the changes in him are more subtle and I think, because of that, I am taking pictures less often. However, I would still like to continue to update this blog, at least once a month. So, here is the January 2015 update....two months late.

To begin with, here is one of my very favorite pictures of our family. We are all smiling, we all have our eyes open, and we all look happy.

Brian writes a monthly column for the English farm magazine, "Farmers Weekly." We thought that this would be a good picture to send in with his article next month.

Ahhh, he is so peaceful and quiet when he sleeps.

Nathan's 3rd Birthday

Due to the weather and illness, we celebrated Nathan's 3rd birthday in spurts. But we eventually had a true birthday party the Saturday after the big day. Grandma Ruth, Grandpa Jack, Uncle Wayne, Grandma Hind, Grandpa Hind, Jordan, Leslie, and Juneau were all at the event. Nathan had a great time!

Christmas 2014

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. We spent it with Grandma and Grandpa Hind, Grandma Boz and Bob, and Brian's Aunt Jess and Janice. Nathan really got into the spirit of opening gifts!
